Osteopathy first visit

We will take the time to listen to you and then listen to the messages your body is telling us.

During the first session, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire, so that we may have a better understanding of your current problem.

From a global vision, to a specific focus, we will thoroughly explore the course of your life and the challenges you have faced (injuries, accidents, surgeries, illnesses, stresses, etc.).

To predict well, you must see through two veils – that of the past and that of the future.

A.T. Still, Founder of osteopathy

Osteopathy treatments

The goal of every osteopathy session is to encourage self-regulation by invigorating your body systems to connect as a functional unit.

Each osteopathy session is unique and individually tailored. Whether your problem is an emergency or more chronic in nature, osteopathy helps to remove barriers to stimulate your vital energy.

While addressing the body as a whole, each osteopathic treatment lends special focus to dysfunctional regions or systems. By having a global and a specific focus simultaneously, gentle hands-on techniques guide the body towards equilibrium.

A hand that feels, sees, listens, and knows.

W.G. Sutherland, osteopathic physician

Osteopathy reviews from our clinic

KN (Côte-des-Neiges)
Mélanie is very attentive, skilled and competent. Each session went like a charm. I felt very relaxed, my body in harmony, with a deep sense of total well-being. For my body maintenance, I always consult, without hesitation, the competent team at the Freud Clinic. My experience has always been very satisfying.
JC (Notre-Dame-de-Grâce/NDG)
Mélanie is an attentive listener and she has a keen sense of observation. During the treatment, she always goes the “extra mile.” Using her knowledge, experience and positive energy, she helps us to relax and rejuvenate.
MG (Westmount)
I first went to see Mélanie for lingering shoulder tendinitis that had not been responsive to other types of treatment. After many months of physiotherapy with no success, I had started to think it was an injury I would have to live with for the rest of my life. After only one treatment with Mélanie, I noticed a significant improvement in both pain and mobility; after the second treatment I considered this injury healed, which was amazing. Mélanie is calm and focused, and gives you her full attention. I have since gone back to Mélanie for other issues, and recommend her with enthusiasm!
GK (downtown Montreal)
I always look forward to my sessions with Mélanie because we make tremendous progress.
PF (Notre-Dame-de-Grâce/NDG)
Mélanie has incredible attentiveness and intuition in her treatments, which have helped increase my energy and improve my overall health.
NK (Plateau-Mont-Royal)
I’m so grateful that Mélanie joined Dr. Freud’s practice. Her kindness and humility is matched by her ability to listen deeply—to your words and to your body. Her skills go wide and deep—I have felt the changes from our sessions in meaningful, real ways. In Mélanie I’ve found a real ally in my pursuit of holistic health and well being—I’ve already recommended her to a few good friends. The Freud Clinic is such a treasure to our city.

What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a practice that aims to reintegrate balance and harmony into your body.

Osteopathy was founded by surgeon Andrew Taylor Still. Based on an understanding of anatomy and physiology, its objective is to investigate the source from which one’s dysfunctions or pains originate. Rather than focusing only on the presenting discomfort, osteopathy explores the sum of the body’s blockages.

Osteopathy utilizes a gentle approach with a global perspective of all body systems: musculoskeletal, fascial, visceral and cranial. An osteopath applies precise manual techniques to various tissues to encourage increased vascularization. This re-establishes natural functioning and leads to better whole-body balance.

Due to its holistic nature, osteopathy embraces both intervention and prevention philosophies.
