The best therapy for back pain depends on your specific problem and your personal preferences.

There are several helpful approaches available including medication, chiropractic, osteopathy, massage, physical therapy and acupuncture. Experts agree that conservative methods should be attempted first, before more invasive procedures such as injections and surgery.

If you would like our advice on your specific case, feel free to email us a short description of your symptoms, a summary of the test results you’ve received (eg. Xray) and the outcomes of therapies you may have already tried.

All of the practitioners at the Freud clinic are well trained to treat your back pain while addressing your specific needs and preferences.

This is a difficult question to answer, as both professions may use similar techniques and treat similar conditions.

If you have not received a diagnosis, we recommend that you first consult a medical doctor (MD) or doctor of chiropractic (DC) to examine you, to ensure that there is nothing dangerous going on and determine what may be causing your symptoms.

Osteopathic treatments are generally longer (about 1 hour) and are more spread apart, while chiropractic treatments are generally shorter (about 15 minutes) and more closely scheduled.

Since we understand that selecting the approach that is best for you may be challenging, we will be happy to give you our advice. Simply email us a short description of your symptoms, any medical conditions you have and the results of any therapies you’ve already tried.

Regardless of which approach you choose, your treatment will be tailored specifically for you to provide you with the best, most effective care possible.

Functional Neurology is a clinical approach used to determine what areas of your nervous system may be causing your symptoms and how to improve their function using any combination of exercises, nutrition and manual treatments. Since the goal is to improve the function of the nervous system, many conditions may benefit from this approach.

Dr. Freud, chiropractor, is one of the first Functional Neurology practitioners in Canada and he teaches Functional Neurology to other professionals around the world. He has successfully helped patients suffering with a wide variety of disorders for over 24 years.

We help people overcome their concussion symptoms every day and have been doing so for over 24 years.

We recommend a Functional Neurology consultation for a complete review of your medical file as well as an in-depth interview and neurological examination.

The approach is holistic and individualized, including any combination of vestibular exercise prescription, cardiovascular exercise prescription, nutritional advice, stress relieving techniques and manual therapy (chiropractic, osteopathy or massage).

To learn more about concussions and our approach, we invite you to listen to a radio interview with Dr. Freud, Montreal chiropractor.

Some chiropractic techniques involve a shallow impulse into a joint to help it move better.

This procedure may produce a “cracking” or “popping” sound called a “cavitation”. The sound comes from the release of gas within the lubricating fluid inside the joint and often produces an immediate sense of relief.

It is important to note that our chiropractors are certified in a wide variety of techniques, ranging from traditional “cracking” to others that are “non-cracking”.

We will explain the choices you have and work within your preferences to ensure your maximum comfort.

For more on the “cracking” sound and chiropractic techniques, we invite you to watch an explanation by Dr. Freud, Montreal chiropractor.
